Who We Are

We are ASOCOVE (Association of the Green Corridor of Birds and Jaguars), a collective of families with a single purpose: to protect the biological corridor connecting the Rincón de la Vieja and Cacao volcanoes: the birthplace of the region's unique turquoise rivers. We have transformed our land into a natural sanctuary to offer you something rare: an authentic connection with nature. Through our work, former pastures have become 2,800 hectares of restored forest. Our initiative protects the path of the jaguar and the tapir while offering travelers an ethical, transparent, and deeply real experience.

From neighbors to forest defenders: Know our History
Our association was born in 2021, with a shared dream at the dinner tables of Dos Ríos de Upala and neighboring communities. We were looking for a way to reactivate our local economy without sacrificing the nature we love. What started as meetings of neighbors concerned about their future blossomed into a regional movement. This effort was officially consolidated on July 4, 2025*, with the birth of ASOCOVE (Association of the Green Corridor of Birds and Jaguars), formally uniting the voices and hopes of Dos Ríos, El Gavilán, and Buenos Aires. Today, that union is the strength protecting this corridor.

Tourism that Cares, Connects, and Transforms
The ASOCOVE ethical compass.
Purpose
We exist to create ecotourism experiences that not only amaze the traveler but also generate real prosperity for our families and communities. We work every day to weave alliances and productive chains that preserve our natural and cultural heritage, driving well-being for all.
Dream
We visualize a future where Rincón-Cacao is the undisputed benchmark for sustainable ecotourism. A destination recognized worldwide not only for its beauty but for its ethics, its deep respect for people and the environment, and its capacity to generate a positive and tangible impact on local communities.
Values
Our values are governed by four key pillars: Sustainability, Ethics, Respect, and Transparency.

"We care for nature, bridge cultures, and transform lives through respect, ethics, sustainability, and transparency."

We build the future of the Corridor

Visibility: We managed the first "Coexistence Fair," putting the tourist attractions of the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano slopes on the map.

Goals
-
Experience Improvement: We are renovating the infrastructure of the San Gerardo Station visitor center to welcome you with greater comfort.
-
Shared Management: We are working on a historic agreement for the shared management of the Corridor in the San Cristóbal Sector alongside conservation authorities.
-
Digital Development: We launched platforms to visualize the immense tourism potential of our communities.

Together we manage, protect, and bring life to this tourism corridor every day. Our association consists of neighbors, entrepreneurs, local guides, rangers, and artisans who form a community network working together to protect the forest and strengthen the local economy.
Here, every role matters, and every visitor becomes part of this living network.
Rincón-Cacao: A Community Experience
At Rincón-Cacao, tourism has a human face. This community experience is defined by direct connection: your guides are the local experts who know every trail, and your hosts are families who have lived here for generations.

We are far from a hotel chain; we are a network of neighbors working together to offer you real, safe, and intimate experiences rich in local identity—perfect for families or small groups.

Your journey fuels a fair tourism model where resources stay local, strengthening local entrepreneurs and enabling the care and protection of 2,800 hectares of restored forest.
You arrive as a traveler, but you become an essential part of the solution to protect this biological corridor.
