The Tapir Tree: In these forests, the Jícaro Danto (Parmentiera valerii) abounds. If you see its fruits bitten on the ground, keep your eyes peeled! It means a Tapir has been eating there recently. The presence of this tree is a vital sign that the ecosystem is healthy and supports Costa Rica's large mammals.
