Flavors of Firewood & Tradition

The Gastronomic & Community Route Experience.

Forget the clock and live to the rhythm of the countryside. This tour is a tribute to the Guanacaste and Alajuela "spoon" (culinary heritage). You will visit the traditional bakeries of Doña Amelida or Marcela to watch rosquillas come out of the clay oven. Lunch at a local soda with views of the volcano, and end the day with a café chorreado listening to the stories of ASOCOVE's founders. It's not just eating; it's understanding the history of every ingredient.

Key Facts:

The cuisine of this area is distinguished by the use of maíz pujagua (ancestral purple corn) and cooking in traditional wood-fired ovens. This slow-cooking method not only deliciously smokes the food but is a cultural heritage kept alive by these families for generations.
